North Salem’s Brian Span has committed to play at the University of Virginia on a full scholarship. UVA is one of the most successful programs in the most successful conference, the ACC, in the nation.

This comes on the heels of his being named to the U-15/16 East Conference squad by the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Only 44 players nationally were named Conference players. Joining him was Somers’ Taylor Washington, a rising junior at Rye Country Day.

  1. FCW

FC Westchester has been a club soccer program in our region producing top notch soccer players for a long time running now. Players from the lohud area were on the same team as Span and are going to top notch universities this coming year. Charlie Pirc from Suffern is going to Bucknell. Tom McNamera who attends Don bosco will be going to Brown. Brad jacobson of Mamaroneck is going to Dartmouth. Paolo Luciano of Valhalla is going to Sienna. Josh Weiner, a rising senior from Byram Hills has just commited to Brown.

FCW has a tremendous reputation and many players throughout the area are also on the club. From Horace Greeley there is Justin karr, Stephen Reisert, and Zachary FRied. From Scarsdale is Hiroki Kobayashi From John Jay there is Bucky Illingworth and Gabe Stauber. From Yorktown there is Allen Mata. From Mamaroneck there is Michael LaFuente. From Byram hills there is Josh Weiner, Greg Shaheen, and Willy Gevertz.

Congrats to Cobi, I have seen him play for a while now… and his skills have deservingly earned him the best.
