Wow, I have never seen such a watered down achievement. There are teams in each section that practically have their entire starting lineup between all league and honorable mention. There are many players here who the ONLY reason they are here is because they are seniors. There is even one player (Alburtus) who played about a quarter of the games before being injured. Everyone knows the coaches have favorites, but when this many girls are named and players that REAllY don’t deserve it are on this list it makes the award that much more meaningless. For some teams basically you had to show up and be on a pretty successful team, big deal. They put limits on All Section and now they have to do the same for all league. My opinion the top 10-15 from each league with an honorable mention to represent each team. Looking at some of these names was really funny and it really shouldn’t be.

Jen Mansfield of JJEF did not deserve NYS AA first team honors. She is the most overrated girls soccer player in this area! After having so much experience in varsity soccer, she turned out to be the weaker link in the center mid position for Jay. Caitlyn Moran deserved it over her because she proved to be much more valuable and clutch in the long term. I can also think of some players on the Arlington team who could have earned that position. I wonder how much these people get paid to purposely screw up the rankings?

How does the all state team get selected? Is it strictly based on this season or does outside partication and previous years get considered into the decision. Not saying they’re not great players, but, how does someone like Reimer who had a down year and didn’t even stay in the goal most of the year make 1st team. Or Maron, who’s team never makes it to the section finals, yes, she put up good numbers, but there were girls with better numbers on better teams. Can you explain the process? It seems like it’s all just by reputation, that old “she made it last year so she has to make it this year” isn’t fair to the girls who have better seasons.

leanne desisto deserves a spot on the 1st team over the one’s from our section. My girl is a str8 up game changer. She coulda been a captain if she didnt get hurt. I dont know wat coach daryl sulivan sees in the other 3 girls b/c they aint notin special. she gonna lead the team to another state champinship title next year. we got that conecttion.

Jeff GoldJeff Gold reached the the soccer pinnacle when he was 7 years old. As the star of the Irvington Hurricanes, he led his team to a 13-0-2 record, scoring a goal in every game. Jeff didn't improve much and all of the others did. He only scored two goals as a varsity player, and one time, he was called Josh, so only one goal was official.
