GIRLS:

CLASS C: NORTH SALEM VS. TUXEDO

Final: North Salem 1, Tuxedo 0

North Salem plays in the regional final against an opponent to be determined at Yorktown High School Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Update 3: Midway through the second half, the Tigers still lead 1-0.

Update 2: It’s 1-0 North Salem at halftime.

Update 1: Jeff, who has is at Yorktown’s Charlie Murphy Field, reports that North Salem has jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Alexia Shea off a 25-yard shot with 7:11 left in the first half.

BOYS:

CLASS B: BRONXVILLE VS. SPACKENKILL

Final: Bronxville 4, Spackenkill 0

Bronxville will take on Cold Spring Harbor of Section 8 in the regional final at Mitchell Field in Hempstead Saturday at 3 p.m.

Update 2: It’s 4-0 at halftime. Brian Rogers, Rodrigo Amboss and John Timoney all have one goal and one assist.

Update 1: Matt Ng, who is covering this one for us, reports that Bronxville has jumped out to a 4-0 lead with three minutes remaining in the first half.

CLASS C: NORTH SALEM VS. RHINEBECK

Final: North Salem 4, Rhinebeck 0

North Salem will play Section 11’s Southold on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Diamond in the Pines Complex in Brookhaven out on Long Island.

Span and Ballard each had two goals.

Jake will be back here in a bit with lots more info on the game.

Update 1: Jake reports North Salem has jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead. Brian Span has two goals. Paxton Ballard has the other goal.

BEGINNING OF DAY REPORT

The North Salem and Bronxville boys teams hope to earn spots in this weekend’s regional finals.

Both teams will be in action at the Hudson Valley Sports Dome. Jake and Matt Ng will be reporting on the games for us, so check back for score updates.

North Salem’s girls team has a regional semifinal of its own — against Tuxedo.

Jeff will be on hand for that one.

Here’s the slate:

Boys

Class C

North Salem vs. Rhinebeck (Section 9) at Hudson Valley Sports Dome, 2 p.m.

Class B

Bronxville vs. Spackenkill (Section 9) at Hudson Valley Sports Dome, 4 p.m.

Girls

Class C

Tuxedo vs. North Salem at Yorktown, 4:30 p.m.

    Oh – also there’s a lot of info on the North Salem game on that blog. Hope Span’s “injury” is nothing major.

    Well Done North Salem Boys/Girls. Speaking as one of the many drivers who raced up I84 to the boy’s game and down the Taconic to catch the girls after a fantastic boy’s game it was all worth it. Even the speeding ticket.

Jeff GoldJeff Gold reached the the soccer pinnacle when he was 7 years old. As the star of the Irvington Hurricanes, he led his team to a 13-0-2 record, scoring a goal in every game. Jeff didn't improve much and all of the others did. He only scored two goals as a varsity player, and one time, he was called Josh, so only one goal was official. Jeff worked at The Journal News for a year after graduating from Colgate University. He left for three years to work at Newsday, and returned to The Journal News in 2007. READ MORE
