Let the debate begin

October
18

Nothing seems to spark more discussion on here than the weekly state rankings. So … drum roll, please. I present to you, the avid followers of the Just Kickin’ It blog, this week’s rankings as compiled by the New York State Sportswriters Association. And no, I have nothing to do with them.

Remember, these are for games through Sunday.

Have at it ladies and gents. Thoughts?

EDgemont beat bronxville 2-0??? and Hastings doesnt play any decent teams they lost to ardsely 2-0?

Even though the site says it’s through Sunday (the 14th), it doesn’t look like the records are updated. They list Bronxville as 11-1, but they’d lost to North Salem and Edgemont. With the Edgemont game included, no doubt Edgemont would be a few spots higher and Bronxville would be a few spots lower. I doubt that that game alone would be enough for Edgement to pass Bronxville, though.

I think that Suffern should be ranked in the top 15 in the state. They are playing extremely well and should be recognized for that. They are 10-3 and are better then most teams on there.

Bronxville also lsot to valhalla, so in the nest set of rankings there is no way bronxville should be in there if north salem doesn’t break the top twenty. Edgemont I believe should also be higher up on the list then they are

Rod, who do you think is going to win the league between Greeley, Lakeland, and John Jay? And then who would you put your money on winning the section for class AA and A?

    This site is great!

Class AA playoffs will be wide open. There are so many solid teams from Rockland, Putnam, Westchester and Dutchess that it is not easy predicting a winner. Arlington, Suffern and East Fishkill are quality teams who play a rigorous schedule during the regular season. There will be some sleepers as well since the games are played for a reason. How bout Scarsdale these days??

Hey Rod, I was wondering how the standings how are determined in each league. Is it by winning percentage or by points, and if it’s by points, how many points per win, loss, and tie? And for sectionals, are the seeding based soley on record or by strength of schedule too?

    Ronaldino,

Thanks for the love man. Much appreciated. I’m glad you like it. It’s because of people like you that it’s doing as great as it is. Sorry I didn’t get to your question about the league title earlier, but it’s been a little hectic the last few days with me taking a mini hiatus. If you want to know who will win Class AA, chack back on Friday my man.

    Hi,
The séedings are based on the criteria I posted in a previous thread, but there is an elaborate system with points that help determine this as well. It would take a while to post, but if you really want to know. let me know beforehand and I’ll hook you up with a copy at the sectional finals.
