High school soccer in the Lower Hudson Valley

Just to be clear…

October
16

Dutchess County is out of our coverage area. Therefore neither I nor Rod nor anyone else at The Journal News includes Dutchess teams in our power rankings. That means no Arlington, East Fishkill, Lourdes, etc. It’s not because we’re pretending they’re not good, or they don’t belong. It’s that we never watch them play, we don’t get their results called in, we know very little about them. So Johnny Duke and others, stop accusing us of being idiots for ignoring Dutchess County.

Yes but lower Westchester is in your coverage area and you neglect these schools. I just assumed you lived somewhere up near North Rockland judging by the amount of coverage the Northern teams get…...enough said, show the south some love

how about shhs soccer girls. granted they haven’t won many games, but they have some very very good players. and its a relatively young team. The girls play at peabody field in sleepy hollow..try and catch them, only 2 games left…...

All I am asking is try not to forget us in Dutchess county and League 1C. East Fishkill, Arlington, Mahopac, Ketchum and Carmel.

  4. Leave Jake Alone

I’m pretty sure Mamaroneck is not considered Northern Westchester (and they receive decent coverage, so not sure what show the south some love means?) so everyone needs to leave Jake alone if their area teams are not receiving enough coverage, and let the teams playing speak for themselves, its very clear to everyone that follows soccer in this region (Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess)that encompass this part of NY State that East Fishkill, Arlington, Mahopac, Ketcham(its actually spelled this way), and Carmel are very good teams. Lets see how this all plays out in the playoffs and give Jake a break.

Jeff GoldJeff Gold reached the the soccer pinnacle when he was 7 years old. As the star of the Irvington Hurricanes, he led his team to a 13-0-2 record, scoring a goal in every game. Jeff didn't improve much and all of the others did. He only scored two goals as a varsity player, and one time, he was called Josh, so only one goal was official. Jeff worked at The Journal News for a year after graduating from Colgate University. He left for three years to work at Newsday, and returned to The Journal News in 2007. READ MORE
