High school soccer in the Lower Hudson Valley

First state rankings are in

September
28

And a whopping 13 Section 1 teams are ranked. Valhalla has the honor as the top-ranked team from the Lower Hudson Valley. The Vikings are ranked No. 2 in Class C, a worthy ranking if I ever saw one. I’ll get my first up close look at them next week in their big game with Bronxville.

Remember, these rankings represent games through Monday, so don’t think they will look the same next week.

You can check them out here.

Thoughts anyone?

i don’t really care about the state rankings, as they are typically prejudiced and behind-the-times. but i do care about the fact that the boys and girls share a blog. why is that? basketball has separate blogs. lacrosse has separate blogs. why do boys and girls soccer share a blog? it’s not like sharing is horrible or anything, but if you are interested in girls soccer, you shouldn’t have to filter through the boys stuff and vica-versa.

Jeff GoldJeff Gold reached the the soccer pinnacle when he was 7 years old. As the star of the Irvington Hurricanes, he led his team to a 13-0-2 record, scoring a goal in every game. Jeff didn't improve much and all of the others did. He only scored two goals as a varsity player, and one time, he was called Josh, so only one goal was official. Jeff worked at The Journal News for a year after graduating from Colgate University. He left for three years to work at Newsday, and returned to The Journal News in 2007. READ MORE
