High school soccer in the Lower Hudson Valley

Who ya got?

August
30

Ok, gang. The season is just about a week away, although most teams don’t actually start until Sept. 10. But in the meantime, as we wait for the gams to begin, I want to know your predictions. Who will win Class AA, Class A, Class B, and Class C? Tell me who your going with and why. Do you guys see any of the defending champs (Arlington, Byram Hills, Albertus Magnus, Blind Brook) repeating this year? Who’s the sleeper teams?

Have at it …

    Rod,
Good to see we have a blog as well. I think it will be an exciting season in all conferences. I don’t know if it’s me but soccer is becoming more and more attractive in this area. I hear alot of kids talking about the game. Just an observation.
Anyway in AA I’m going with JJEF was a young team last year with everyone coming back. Will be tough to beat Arl but I think they ahve what it takes. Southern Westchester will be tough. White Plains, NR, Scars, Mam, you never know what to expect. I’m sure at least one will compete with the best. I also think Fox Lane and Greeley will be tough in their league. FL continues to improve and Greeley is always good. SHould be interesting in AA

Class A IMO comes down to Port Chester (who I think is going to be very strong watch out they play FL early in the season should be a good one) Lakeland (always’ strong no matter what they loose) and Kieo (don’t need to say anything) those three will give Byram Hills a run but I think the’re still the best in A hands down

Class B- Do not know much about but would think N. Salem would have to contend with who ever else is there.

    I don’t know much about C
    Should be fun

Hi Rod, glad to see a blog for soccer. The Lax blog was a great place to get info and talk up the sport. In class AA, the northern teams always are the favorites (Arlington, JJ & Ketcham)with the biggest competition probably coming from White Plains and New Rochelle. Good Fox Lane and Greeley teams should also make some noise. Class A could be a repeat of last sesons final with both Byram Hills and Lakeland returning solid talent, but Keio is always a threat. Albertus Magnus is the team to beat in B and in C Blind Brook, Briarcliff and North Salem should all be in the mix.

Fox Lane opened today with a scrimmage VS N. Salem. The Foxes started out very strong and contolled posession for the first 20. Then it went back and for for the next 20 with Fox Lane missing a couple of chipy’s. Second half 3-1 Fox Lane. Good start for both sides I think. Physical play due to the lone referee MR> Cassidy if you could only imagine. Nothing out of hand though on either side.

    Rod,
What does that mean? Your comment is awaiting moderation? I’m assuming it means other people need to write? C’mon guy’s where is everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Fox Lane will be pretty good this year, but there are some real good teams around

  6. fox lane

I think that Greeley is terrible. The foxes are goona wreck them this year

  7. nuts cord

Bottom Line- if Fox Lane gets healthy they have what it takes to compete for a league and section title. If thye don’t get the two kids back they are just another decent team. We’ll know by week two of the season.

Watch out for Mamaroneck this year… they’re gonna have a solid team. New Rochelle shouldn’t be a challenge this year, they’re young and inexperienced… but I’ll say it again… watch out for Mamaroneck

    #24lax,

I’m not sure why the comments were in moderation. I didn’t see anything offensive in any of them. It could have been a server issue, but it looks like we are up and running.

And yes everyone, I’m glad you’re happy there is a blog for soccer. We will try to make this even better than the boys lax one, but I’m no Joe Lombardi so I’ll do the best I can along with my boy Jake.

nobody talks about tappan zee, tappan zee has chris holihan one of the top 5 players in A, along with 3/4 of the team that they to the section semifinals, this is one team you should watch out for.
